- Sanitary sewer/ wastewater that the city of Canfield has leaves the city through a 36 inch concrete sewer that flows north though Canfield Township, Austintown Township, and Mineral Ridge to the Meander Water Pollution Control Facility. The unsanitary water is treated; with the solids being removed and transported to a landfill and the liquid (after being treated) is returned to Meander Creek.
- The water department bills for water consumed and sewage, both of which is based on consumer usage.
- The new owner or renter of a home in Canfield is required to make application with the water department office. Failure to do so in a timely manner may result in termination of water service.
- In some of the newer locations in the township, outside of the city limits, the new homes being built require the owners to put wells in due to the fact that city water is not tied into their area.

Vectors
- The three main vectors in Canfield Ohio are: mosquito, flea, and the tick.
- With the humidity that comes with the territory, mosquitos can be a nuisance to the population. Some recommendations to eliminate the chance of infectious disease include: dispose of unwanted tin cans and tires, clean clogged gutters and drain flat roofs, turn over unused wading pools and other containers that tend to collect rain water, change water in birdbaths, fountains, and troughs twice a week, clean and chlorinate swimming pools, flush sump pump systems weekly, and stock ornamental pools with fish.
Flora
- One type of flora that is specific to this northern region is the bluegrass.
- Bluegrass will form the nicest lawn, but it has a very low shade tolerance.
- Also it handles foot traffic very well, but does not tolerate extreme cold or drought conditions.
- The feeling is soft, with some coarse grass mixed in.
